SSI & Cumbrae at the RYA Dinghy Show
There are no results currently available for this event.
The RYA Volvo Dinghy show, held on the first weekend in March at Alexandra Palace in London always heralds the beginning of the new sailing season and provides an excellent opportunity for the Scottish Sailing Institute to fly the Scottish Flag. Teaming up in a joint venture staff from the Scottish Sailing Institute and sportscotland’s National Centre Cumbrae made the annual pilgrimage south.
The show is always really busy with a good mix of Class Associations and RYA recognised training Centres. For The Scottish Sailing Institute the show provides an excellent opportunity to meet with the many different dinghy classes all pulled together under on one roof. David Kent had a very busy weekend of meetings aimed at encouraging the many classes represented at the show, to bring their sailing events to Scotland. Aerial photographs on the stand of the new event slipway at Largs Sailing Club created a lot of very positive feedback and encouraging remarks particularly form some of the larger class associations.
For Cumbrae the focus of the show is on meeting the public. The stand always becomes a magnet for people from Scotland. The whole atmosphere is very friendly and the show gives you a feeling that you are part of a close knit community. Cumbrae has been coming to the show for many years now, and it is great opportunity to catch up with friends old and new. As firm and biased believers that Scotland has the best sailing in the world, two days spent enlightening people in London is always time well spent.
Clare Bennet Lloyd from Norfolk was this years winner in the Free Prize Draw, Congratulations to Claire, first out of the hat, who can choose any of Cumbrae's weekend courses as the lucky prize draw winner.
