Commodores's Cup Day 1 Report

Scottish Team Update
Day 1.

Scotland's team at the Rolex Commdores’ Cup had a tough reminder of how the strong Solent tides can be punishing in light winds as they struggled badly for speed and lie 13th of the 13 international teams competing after the first two round the buoys races.
In a light north-easterly breeze the Scottish boats were generally overshadowed by their lighter, quicker counterparts.
In Class 1 Dave Cullen and crew on the IMX 45 Exabyte had the most consistent day with two 11th places in a fleet which was dominated by the bigger boats. John Shepherd's new Ker 46 footer Fair Do's won the first race with Scotland's Stephen Park calling tactics won. The Farr 52 Bear of Britain won a second, longer contest which proved a big boat benefit.
In Class 2 Absolutely II, the Scots Mumm 36, encountered the conditions which were always going to be their Achilles heel, and there was little they could do finishing 12th and 13th.
Best result of the day came from John Corson's Salamander XVIII which scored a 10th in the second race of the day.
