Clydeport Largs Regatta Week Hailed a Major S
The Clyde’s largest sailing event, Largs Regatta Week 2006, came to a close on Sunday.
Around 220 keelboat and dingy competitors took part in the programme at Largs Marina, which is run jointly by Largs Yacht Haven and Largs Sailing Club.
A full social programme kicked off the first weekend of racing, which included round the buoys and round Cumbrae courses. Midweek saw a series of evening races, while the final weekend hosted the Hems Kalis dingy series and the infamous Scottish 2 Handed race around Arran or the Holy Isle.
Director of Largs Yachts Haven, Carolyn Elder says it’s been a very enjoyable week: “We saw some really good sailing from both the keelboats and the dingy sailors throughout the week. The competitors flock to Largs every year from clubs around the Clyde – the race management facilities we provide ensure every year is a big success. Huge credit must be given to all the volunteers who gave up their time and provided a big helping hand!”
Largs Regatta Week officials were delighted to introduce the event’s new sponsors, Clydeport. The major port operator has taken over the title sponsorship for the next five years.
